This tote bag is inspired by Hipólita Bolívar, also known as "Negra Hipólita".
She was born in San Mateo, Aragua State, Venezuela in 1763 and died in Caracas on June 25, 1835. When Simón Bolívar was born in 1783, his mother was in critical health and had to find a wet nurse for her son. She resorted to Hipólita, who was at that time a slave of the hacienda "El Ingenio", in San Mateo, owned by the family. This fact was remembered by Bolivar himself on several occasions, showing in gestures and even in letters the affection he always felt for Hipolita, whom he came to consider his mother and father.
